It is a mistake to silo yourself (or your staff) into one of these “career paths”. Many people are drawn to data science careers – myself included – because the skills required are so diverse. Keep your team flexible, let people swap roles when they want, even project-to-project and let everyone use a little bit of all their skills. The data science career path rarely requires a rigid approach to work well.
